Our Vision for Carmarthenshire County Council
Carmarthenshire Liberal Democrats want to see:
- Change in the democratic structures of the County Council to ensure it is more open, inclusive, accountable and genuinely democratic.
- An independent review to ensure the County Council operates as effectively and efficiently as possible.
- A review to examine the scope for collaborative working with neighbouring Councils and to improve the County Council's relationships with Town and Community Councils.
- The County Council giving the highest priority to a range of policies to promote economic development in all parts of the County.
- Clear and measurable action for the regeneration of our town centres and local communities.
- Improved public transport.
- Improved support for our schools and teachers and the promotion of lifelong learning for all in our communities.
- The development and protection of our leisure and community services including providing free swimming for those under 16 and over 60.
- Improved social care services where older and vulnerable people have more choice over the care they receive.
- An independent review of the Council's Planning Services so that we have a service which is efficient, transparent and respected.
- Improved energy efficiency in our housing stock and action taken on empty homes.
- An improved recycling service.
- The Council working towards a 'zero carbon' County.
- Strong links with the Police Service to ensure there is no increase in crime and that anti-social behaviour is dealt with effectively.
