Our Vision for Local Schools
Welsh Liberal Democrats believe that investment in education is the best way to help tackle poverty and to prepare our economy for the future. That is why we worked in the National Assembly to ensure a pupil premium was established, so that schools will be able to reduce the impact of poverty on educational attainment. This ensured an extra £1.6 million for Carmarthenshire's schools. We have ensured that education is treated with the respect and priority it deserves. Carmarthenshire Liberal Democrats want to:
- Support the Modernising Education Plan whilst protecting sustainable rural schooling.
- Review home to school transport provision.
- Expand and promote Breakfast Clubs for schools.
- Expand and promote After-School Clubs.
- Promote lifelong learning and the development of the skills required for a 21st Century economy.
